We hope you find yourself amongst friends here, and that you contribute to the community in a positive way. Please be aware that in cyber-land as in real life you are more than likely going to interact with people with whom you don’t agree and/or don’t like. Please exercise some tolerance.
There are a few guidelines we'd like everyone to follow, though. Without rules to be broken, there would be no prisons, eh? Well, that may be true, but it is also true that if you break these rules or generally personify yourself with a disruptive voice, you will be banned from this community at the discretion of the administrators. So, with that in mind, please follow the below listed guidelines and we'll all get along just fine.
1. If you must be profane, try to be ingenious. If you can't be ingenious, try not to be profane. English is such a brilliant language. Why limit the words you use?
2. If you have a problem with another member of this community, please advise one of the administrators so that they may be aware of the situation at hand and take appropriate measures on the board to set it right again. This may include events offlist as well.
3. NO FLAMING. If you really really really want to throttle someone here, have a Bacardi and Coke. Or a ginger ale. Either way, take a powder, walk away, chill. Advise one of the administrators. They'll take control and relieve you of being the "bad guy" if you are actually the good guy being dumped on.
4. If you really are the bad guy, watch your mouth and your manners. I'm sure you were raised better than the lowest common denominator, at least we’re willing to give you the benefit of our doubt. But if you can't play nice, then don't play at all. NO FLAMING.
5. NO SPAM. All spam threads, posts and members will be deleted from this forum.
6. Please do not refer to pirated contents (including software/movies/music ...) - this includes illegal copying of copyrighted content. Posting messages about copyrighted movies you illegally downloaded or copying DVDs you don't own may get you into trouble with your local authorities, and may get this forum into trouble as well. Be careful of your wording when referring to backup copies of your legally purchased materials.
7. Can't we all just get along? It is our firm belief that the members of this community are of an above average intelligence and are fully capable of having civil discourse without belittling anyone - including themselves - no matter what the topic may be. Please bear that in mind whenever posting or responding to a post here.
8. No lurkers. This is a posting community. If we don't know you, you will be booted. It's the only way we can keep the membership clean.
9. Claim your opinions. The written word is what most of our readers have to go in terms of interpreting your intent and humor. Don’t assume that people “know” you. If you do have definitive insight—say you are friends with Jodhi May or any artist mentioned here—make that clear. Otherwise, we will think you are full of it. After so many times of this, we will tire of you and boot you.
10. JMDUS is not here to disseminate misinformation, and we will safe guard that mission.
But, we won’t be party to spreading heresay and rumors. That said, speculation is fine—just be sure we all know it’s speculation and not “fact”.
Disclaimers:
1. The moderating, support and other teams reserve the right to edit or remove any post at any time. The determination of what is construed as indecent, vulgar, spam, etc. as noted in these points is up to Administrators and not users.
2. The above forum rules where applicable also apply to private messaging. Abuse of the private messaging system may lead to warnings (as above) and/or the revocation of private messaging.
3. The administrators reserve the right to add, modify, or remove any of these rules at any time. Rule changes apply to past, current and future posts.
And, lastly, this forum is privately owned and maintained. As such, it is a personal enterprise and comes with all the rights afforded personal property. Although we try to make the forum regularly available, there will come a time when we don’t want to do this anymore, and we and JMDUS will disappear. If that time ever comes, we will try to give people warning.
And remember this is supposed to be a bright idea
YOU ROCK!!!
